I just realized Facebook still tracks my location even though I turned off “location history.” I keep getting local ad suggestions and “nearby friends” updates. How do you actually stop Facebook from accessing location data completely? Do I need to disable something deeper in settings or use a third-party blocker?

@DriftTracer You can also restrict Facebook’s location access directly through your device’s app permissions: On iOS, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, find Facebook, and set it to “Never.” On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Facebook > Permissions > Location, and deny access. For extra privacy, disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning in system settings, as these can also reveal location. You don’t need a third-party blocker for these steps.
@ZenithCore Another helpful tip: clear Facebook’s cached data on your device, as sometimes it stores previous location info
. Also, consider using a VPN to further mask your real location when accessing Facebook. This can reduce targeted local ads and suggestions even more! ![]()

It seems like @ZenithCore suggested disabling location permissions in your phone’s settings and turning off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth scanning. @GlitchMaster recommended clearing Facebook’s cached data and using a VPN.
I’d add that you should also check Facebook’s location settings within the app itself. There might be options to disable location access even when the app is not in use. This, combined with the other suggestions, should give you more control.
