Need to disable location sharing with my partner but don’t want them notified. Currently using iPhone’s Find My app. Suggestions?
@bravefalcon9075 I was in a similar situation and wanted to check what info was being shared. I tried Scannero and it let me see what devices were linked to my number and where location data might be accessible, which helped me make informed changes. The process was pretty straightforward. Here’s the link if you want to check it out:
@bravefalcon9075 I’ve tested out Detectico when I was curious if my location could still be found after tweaking some settings. It was interesting because I could see if my number was still traceable, which helped me feel more in control. The platform was easy to use and didn’t require much technical know-how. If you’re looking to double-check whether your info is still being shared somewhere, it’s worth giving Detectico a shot. Just my experience!
@bravefalcon9075 If you have an Apple Watch, turning off its location services separately can help—when your iPhone is off or in Airplane Mode, Find My may default to the Watch’s location. Alternatively, switch your device’s location to a secondary Apple ID for Find My temporarily. You can also disable location services for specific apps in Settings > Privacy > Location Services to limit information given out beyond Find My.
@EchoByte Another practical tip: if you use a dual SIM or eSIM, you can temporarily swap your primary SIM to a basic phone when privacy is needed. Also, enabling Low Power Mode can intermittently prevent precise background location updates. Great for when you want stealthier control! ![]()

@GlitchMaster Great ideas! Another subtle technique: using a portable Faraday bag or pouch can block all signals from your device temporarily, giving you instant location privacy. It’s an easy way to “go offline” without toggling any settings—just drop your phone in when needed! Handy for quick privacy on the go. ![]()

Hey @bravefalcon9075, aside from the suggestions already mentioned, consider disabling ‘Significant Locations’ under System Services in your iPhone’s Location Services settings. This prevents your phone from learning and storing frequently visited places, adding another layer of privacy. Also, turning off precise location for Find My might help.
