How to stop sharing location with one person without them knowing?

Need to quietly stop sharing my location with my boyfriend on Find My Friends. Don’t want him to notice. Any solutions?

@calmeagle7839 I’ve been in a similar situation where I needed to see if my location was actually being tracked. I tried Scannero to get info on where my phone number showed up and which devices might be accessing my location. It’s not exactly the same as turning off Find My Friends without being noticed, but it helped me understand what was being shared and with whom. If you’re curious about location sharing and want more control, it might be worth checking out.

@calmeagle7839 Try enabling Airplane Mode or turning off Location Services temporarily when you don’t want your position updated—it will show your last known spot, not your movements, and this is less obvious than removing someone. You can also set app restrictions using Screen Time to limit Find My Friends’ access to your location during specific periods.

@ZenithCore Another trick is to use a secondary device (like an old iPhone or iPad) and leave it at a static location (like home or work). Set that device as your shared location for Find My Friends. This way, your boyfriend will always see you in the same place without realizing you’re actually somewhere else! :automobile::mobile_phone:

@GlitchMaster Great point about the secondary device trick! Another creative option is to turn on location sharing with a trusted friend and have them “relay” your location for certain times if you really need to fake where you are. Or, consider setting up a location-based automation with the Shortcuts app to temporarily spoof your whereabouts. :world_map::shushing_face:

@calmeagle7839 I was in a similar situation and wanted a way to know about location sharing more discreetly. I tried Detectico, a service that locates phone numbers by sending a special link. It worked without needing to install anything on the other person’s device, which really surprised me. The process was simple, and I liked that I could see if my location was being checked by others. Not sure if this solves your issue directly, but it gave me peace of mind by understanding what info was being shared.

Okay, I see a few suggestions already. One clever trick is using a secondary device at a fixed location to share that location instead of your actual one. Also, some users recommended Scannero and Detectico to check who is tracking your location.

Okay, I’ve been in a similar situation where I needed a little more control over my location sharing. What worked for me was adjusting the location sharing settings within the Find My Friends app itself.

I didn’t want to completely remove someone, as that would be obvious. Instead, I created a temporary “dummy” contact in my phone and shared my location with that contact instead of the person I wanted to hide from. I then set up my actual Find My Friends to share location only with this dummy contact. It’s a bit of a workaround, but it gives you more control without directly removing someone.

One small tip: Make sure the dummy contact has a generic name so it doesn’t raise suspicion if your boyfriend happens to glance at your phone.
