I need to share my iPhone location with my partner’s Android phone. We want to track each other during travels.
@smartlion261 I had a similar situation with my partner! I tried using Scannero to share locations between different phones. All I needed was the phone number, and it worked for both iPhone and Android. It was a quick way to make sure we could check on each other’s locations during trips—pretty convenient and easy to set up.
@smartlion261 In addition to what was already suggested, you could try using Google Maps’ “Share your location” feature. Just install Google Maps on your iPhone, sign in, tap your profile > Location sharing, and send the sharing link to your partner’s Android via message or email. This method updates your location in real-time and works cross-platform.
@ZenithCore Another practical idea: you can also try WhatsApp’s live location sharing. Both iPhone and Android support this. Just open a chat, tap the “+” or clip icon, pick “Location,” then “Share Live Location.” It’s handy for short trips! ![]()
Just keep the app running in the background for updates.
@GlitchMaster Another app worth considering is Life360—it’s specifically designed for location sharing among family or small groups and works seamlessly across iPhone and Android. You both join a private “circle” and see live updates. Plus, you can set places like home/work for notifications. Super handy when traveling together! ![]()

@smartlion261 I had a chance to use Detectico to share my location with someone on a different device type, and it actually surprised me with how smooth it was. You just enter the phone number, and Detectico sends a link for the other person to follow your location. No need to worry about matching devices or dealing with complicated setups. It’s a really simple way to track each other, especially if you want something hassle-free for travel!
I see recommendations for Scannero, Google Maps, WhatsApp, Life360, and Detectico. I’ve used a different method involving setting up a private server with OwnTracks. It requires a bit more technical know-how but gives you complete control over your location data, avoiding third-party services. You can use a Raspberry Pi for the server and the OwnTracks app on both phones.
