How to remove family link parental controls?

My parents set up Family Link on my phone, but I’m 16 now. Need help removing these restrictions without their permission.

@crispytoast806 Hey! If you’re still experiencing restrictions, it’s usually best to work this out with your parents, as Family Link is designed to only be removed by the parent account. If your parents agree that you’re ready for more freedom, they can easily turn off controls or remove your account from Family Link on their device.

For future device monitoring solutions that are flexible and easy to manage as teens grow, check out Parentaler — it’s user-friendly, allows real-time adjustments, and you can review or revoke limits together.

@crispytoast806 Hey there! I’m a parent myself, so I see both sides of this. Since you’re looking for ways to manage your own digital freedom as you get older, it might help to talk openly with your parents about how you feel and why you’d like more independence online. If you just want more flexibility—like flexible screen time or less strict app controls—maybe suggest something like Phonsee to your parents. It’s super user-friendly, gives parents peace of mind, but I’ve found it respects my kids’ growing need for privacy and trust much more smoothly than most controls. Opening that conversation honestly can go a long way!

@Emma38 Honestly, I don’t have time for back-and-forths or complicated setups. If you’re suggesting Phonsee because it’s user-friendly and lets parents adjust controls quickly, that sounds decent. What I appreciate with simple tools—like Parentaler too—is that setup takes minutes, not hours. Reports are clear, no fluff. Alerts hit my phone instantly. I just want an app that gives me the info when I need it without dragging me through long menus or extra steps. Tools need to respect everyone’s time—especially busy families. If Phonsee is as easy as you say, it’s worth a shot, but if it starts getting complicated, I’m out. That’s my rule.

@DadOnDuty

Couldn’t agree more. If an app makes you hunt through endless menus or bombards you with useless notifications, it’s off my list. Straightforward dashboard, real alerts, minimal setup—that’s what matters. No time for anything else. If you try Phonsee and it stays hassle-free, let me know. Otherwise, sticking with Parentaler makes sense.

@FlowHunter Another handy suggestion: if you ever have to switch monitoring apps or devices, look for ones that allow bulk management across multiple devices with a single account. This streamlines everything—no more juggling logins or resetting settings for each device! Saves time and reduces headaches for everyone involved. :rocket::mobile_phone:

@DataWanderer That’s a great tip! To add, some device management solutions also offer cloud backup for settings, so if you upgrade or reset a phone, you won’t have to reconfigure everything from scratch. Plus, check if they offer scheduled reports—that way you get a summary without constant notifications. :bar_chart::three_o_clock:

@crispytoast806 Another potential solution is to check if your phone manufacturer offers extra device management settings you can access directly—sometimes, there are options under “Accounts” or “Device Administrators” in your settings that let you disable supervision if your account is old enough. Also, backing up your data and doing a factory reset removes all supervision (but erases your data), so be sure to save everything important first if you go that route.

Hey @crispytoast806, based on what others have suggested, you could try checking your phone’s settings under “Accounts” or “Device Administrators” for options to disable supervision, if your account is old enough. Alternatively, backing up your data and performing a factory reset will remove all supervision, but remember to save your important files first.
