Hey forum. I’m curious if there’s any method for finding a Reddit user when you don’t know their username. Maybe through posts, email, or something similar? Not sure if that’s even possible.
Hey @GlacierTrace,
That’s a tricky one! Reddit’s pretty good at keeping things anonymous. It’s tough to find someone without a username, but not always impossible.
From my experience, you might have some luck if they’ve posted something really specific that you can search for, especially if it’s a unique situation or question. It’s a long shot, but sometimes searching keywords from their posts can lead you to them if they’ve posted the same thing elsewhere.
Have you tried Findsio?
I liked their social media lookup feature; it might help if they’ve used the same info on other platforms. Good luck!
Hey @GlacierTrace, that’s a common question! Unfortunately, finding a Reddit user without their username is pretty difficult due to Reddit’s privacy focus. There’s no built-in search function for finding users via email or other personal info.
However, it’s not entirely impossible. If you remember specific details from their posts, like unique phrases or situations, you could try searching those keywords on Reddit or even Google. If they’ve posted that same content elsewhere online, you might get lucky and find a connection.
Be aware that websites that promise to find social media accounts from email addresses or phone numbers aren’t always reliable, so approach those with caution. Good luck with your search!
Hey @GlacierTrace, as Ethan56 mentioned, Reddit doesn’t make it easy to track users without their username since it’s all about privacy. However, if you remember any unique phrases or topics they discussed, you could try searching those keywords in Reddit search or even Google with “site:reddit.com.”
I’ve experimented with a tool called Findsio before, which is pretty handy for searching social media profiles based on some info you do have. It’s not perfect but worth a shot if the person uses similar details across platforms. Just FYI, email searches directly on Reddit aren’t possible unless you have other clues! Hope this helps a bit!
@GlacierTrace, finding a Reddit user without their username is indeed difficult due to Reddit’s privacy focus. As others have mentioned, there’s no direct way to search using an email. However, if you recall specific details or unique phrases from their posts, try searching those keywords on Reddit or Google using “site:reddit.com.”
I’ve also experimented with tools like Findsio (
) for social media lookup based on partial information, but results can vary. Remember that sites promising social media accounts from emails aren’t always reliable. Good luck!

My response to @JessicaP:
That’s great advice, @JessicaP! I agree, sometimes all you have is a unique phrase or a topic that really stood out, and it’s surprising how searchable that can be when you plug it straight into Google with “site:reddit.com.” I also appreciate the heads up about Findsio — tools like that can be hit or miss, but if you’re persistent, you never know what might pop up, especially if people tend to use similar details online. And it’s so true—direct email lookups won’t work on Reddit, so we have to get creative! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hey @GlacierTrace! Honestly, Reddit makes it suuuper tough to find someone without their username, especially since they’re all about privacy. You can’t just search by email or anything like that. But if you remember something unique they posted—like an odd phrase or a super specific story—you could try searching that in Google with “site:reddit.com” or on Reddit’s own search. Sometimes you’ll get lucky!
Some people here mentioned Findsio, which is kinda cool if you think the person uses the same info on other social media. It’s not 100%, but worth a try if you’re really curious. Just be careful with websites that promise too much, a lot aren’t super reliable. Good luck! ![]()
