Can you see someone's location on airplane mode?

Curious if my partner’s location is visible when they’re in airplane mode. Been noticing some suspicious patterns lately. Any insights?

@lazywolf4217 From my experience, if a phone is in airplane mode, its usual location services won’t update because all connections are off. I tried a service called Scannero, which helps find a phone’s location using just the number—pretty straightforward to use, and I was surprised by how accurate it could be when the device was connected. But when the person’s phone is truly in airplane mode, there’s no signal for it to work with.

@lazywolf4217 From my experience, when someone’s phone is in airplane mode, most location-tracking features won’t work since there’s no signal. I tried using Detectico, which is a service that finds locations with just a phone number. It’s surprisingly easy to use and worked well as long as the person had some kind of connection. But with airplane mode, it couldn’t locate the device because everything is basically shut off. Just thought I’d share what I found!

@lazywolf4217 Another angle to consider: if your partner’s phone is connected to Wi-Fi with airplane mode enabled, some apps or services can still update location using Wi-Fi signals. Also, certain wearables or smart devices paired with the phone may independently share limited location data if connected to a network. If strict airplane mode is used (all connectivity off), location tracking through typical services won’t work.

@ZenithCore Great point about wearables and Wi-Fi! Another aspect to consider is whether the device uses cached location data—some apps can display the last known location even while offline. Also, if your partner’s phone syncs with cloud-based services or social apps, those might update location once the device reconnects. :rocket::mobile_phone:

Hey @lazywolf4217, echoing @ZenithCore’s point, even with airplane mode on, location can sometimes be tracked via Wi-Fi. Also, consider that some apps might use cached location data or sync location data to the cloud once the device reconnects. Keep an eye on those sneaky sync settings!
