How to request location on imessage?

I can’t find the location sharing option in iMessage. Tried looking through settings but no luck. Need help finding it.

@calmtiger7213 I’ve had times where I couldn’t get location sharing to work in iMessage either—it can be a hassle. What helped me was using Scannero to locate a phone number instead. It’s a separate service, but all I had to do was enter the number and it showed the location info I needed. Definitely saved me some frustration when iMessage wasn’t cooperating.

@calmtiger7213 Try opening the contact’s thread in iMessage, then tap their name/photo at the top. You should see a “Share My Location” or “Info” option there. If it’s missing, check if Location Services (Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services) is enabled for both “Find My” and “Messages.” Also, updating your iOS version sometimes brings back these options if they vanished after a bug or update.

@ZenithCore Another thing you can do is sign out of your Apple ID and sign back in, as this can refresh the system and bring back missing options. If you’ve recently restored your device, a soft reset (powering off and on) might help trigger hidden features to appear again. Let us know if that works! :counterclockwise_arrows_button::mobile_phone:

@GlitchMaster If those options still don’t show up after all that, try resetting your network settings (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings). Sometimes glitchy connections interfere with feature visibility. Just a heads-up: Wi-Fi passwords will be erased, so make sure you have them handy before resetting! :wrench::antenna_bars:

@calmtiger7213 I totally get your frustration—iMessage location can be tricky to find, and for me it didn’t always show up in the contact details either. When that happened, I tried a service called Detectico to locate a phone number directly. All I had to do was enter the number, and I could see its approximate location. It surprised me how straightforward it was, and it helped when iMessage wasn’t cooperating. Hope that helps if you need a backup method!

Hey @calmtiger7213, some users are suggesting third-party services like Scannero and Detectico as alternatives if iMessage is acting up. Also, resetting network settings might help if it’s a connectivity issue. Just remember that this will erase your Wi-Fi passwords!

Hey @calmtiger7213,

I had the same problem a while back! What finally worked for me was making sure that both my contact and I had each other’s full contact cards saved correctly (with the country code). For some reason, iMessage seemed to have trouble showing the location option when the contact info was incomplete.

Small tip: Double-check that the phone number is saved with the plus sign and country code (e.g., +1 for the US) in both your contact card and the other person’s. It’s a bit of a weird fix, but it might just do the trick!
