Salesforce

This is a general overview of Salesforce that is helpful to anyone who is getting started. Once you are familiar with Salesforce, you can progress to our tutorial Talend with Salesforce.

If you're new to Salesforce then a great starting point would be to create your own free developer account by visiting developer.salesforce.com. Here, you can create your own Salesforce Developers Account and try out the functionality of Salesforce in your own Sandbox even if you are not working for an organisation that has purchased Salesforce.

To create your own Salesforce Developers Account, just visit developer.salesforce.com and follow the Sign Up instructions.

API Security Token

If you want to use the Salesforce API from third-party software, then you'll need a Security Token, and this includes connecting to Salesforce from Talend. To do this, you need to Reset Your Security Token. First of all, select My Settings as shown below.

You should now be able to select My Settings->Personal->Reset My Security Token.

You should now be able to hit the button Reset Security Token, following the instructions provided.

When a security token is required and you are requested to provide your password, you must provided your password and security token in a concatenated form i.e. mypasswordXXXXXXXXXX.

For more information on Salesforce, read Salesforce API Security.
